Slight relief in Nipah panic
text_fieldsKozhikode: The district found a day of relief after two weeks of panic related to Nipah virus outbreak. State Health Department Director Dr. RL Saritha said that only four, who were suspected to be affected with the virus, were admitted to Kozhikode Government Medical College on Tuesday.
There were no reports of deaths orconfirmation of the disease on Tuesday.
The children of nurse Lini, who died of the infection, were admitted on Tuesday day at Mother and Child Protection Centre. The tests were confirmed negative for the virus infection.
However, they will continue to be under observation. Results of tests conducted on three others suspected of the infection are yet to be received. The condition of a nursing student of Malappuram, infected by the virus, has slightly improved. The condition of a patient admitted at a private hospital has not changed. The test results conducted in 48 persons are negative.
Of those 159 who were examined after the virus outbreak, 143 have been found negative for the infection. 50 more are included in the list for observation.
