Police can continue investigation in Shuhaib murder case: SC
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Supreme Court has clarified that Kerala police can go on with the investigation in the murder case of Shuaib, who was Block Secretary of Youth Congress, Mattannoor. The court also sent notice to the state government on the plea, filed by Shuaib's parents, demanding a CBI enquiry in the case.
The bench which comprised Justices SA Bobday and L. Nageshwara Rao said that the case will be heard again on 16th July. However, the court refused to stay the police submitting its final investigation report in the case.
Senior counsel Kapil Misra who appeared for the petitioners handed over the picture of Shuhaib's body after the murder. When Kapil informed the bench that there were 41 wounds on the body, Justice Bobday bemoaned it as "devilry". He also observed that those who murder in the name of politics are idiots.
Shuhaib was murdered on 12th February. 11 CPM workers including Akash Tillankeri were arrested in the case. Although a single bench had transferred the case to the CBI, the division bench stayed that order. The appeal by Shuhaib's parents under hearing now, is against that division bench order.
