Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that the state government stands for reservation of the poor among the forward castes and said that constitutional amendment should be made to bring this into effect.

The Chief Minister, who said that the government understands the importance of social justice, added that such a reservation will not be detrimental to existing reservation quota. He was addressing representatives of Hindu community leaders as part of second anniversary of the LDF government.

"Government will examine if reservation is ensured for the deserved sections as per the norms. However, reservation cannot solve everything. Raising the job opportunities is more important. To increase job opportunity, developmental activities should be carried out. Government is focusing on it," he added.
