Vagamon Simi Camp case: 7 years rigorous imprisonment for convicts
text_fieldsKochi: An NIA Special Court here on Tuesday sentenced the 18 convicts in the Vagamon SIMI Camp Case to seven years of rigorous imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 25000 on each of the accused. It also said that the remand period of the convicts could be deducted from the jail term.
However, the convicts will continue to be in jail as they are facing trial in the Ahmedabad blasts case.
On Monday, the court had found 18 accused, including four Keralites, guilty in the case. It acquitted 17 others saying the prosecution failed to prove the charges.
The Vagamon case is one of the first cases in Kerala where trial procedure is conducted through video conferencing. The accused, lodged in jails at Bengaluru, New Delhi, Bhopal and Ahmedabad were examined by the court via video conferencing connecting the jails to the court in Kochi.
