text_fieldsKochi: Kerala High Court has issued notice to former director of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB), Thomas Jacob for contempt of court.
He has been asked to appear in person before the court on 2 April. The action follows the allegation that in his complaint filed with the Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC), he had made derogatory remarks against judges of the high court.
The action comes following the complaint by high court lawyer B H Mansoor that the remarks made by the senior IPS officer goes against the provisions of The Judges (Protection) Act, 1985. As per section 77, which was cited in the plea, nothing is an offence which is done by a judge when acting judicially in the exercise of any power which is, or which in good faith he believes to be, given to him by law.
Jacob also handed to the media the complaint he had filed against the sitting judges and Lok Ayukta. The complaint against Jacob is that he raised allegations against judges for the reason of their verdict being against him which constituted contempt of court.
