Malappuram: Five members of a family were killed in an accident near Mambad in the district on Monday evening.
The accident occurred around 3.30 pm at Pongallur. The omni van in which the victims were travelling collided with a private bus which was going towards Manjeri.
The deceased have been identified as Akbar Ali, his sister Naseema, daughter of Naseema, Diya, and daughter of another sister of Akbar Ali, Shifa Ayisha and Shifa who is daughter of Akbar's brother Nasar. All of them are natives of Ponagallur near Mambad.
Sister of Akbar Ali, Fousiya, 3 month old baby of Nasar and six month old baby of Shifa Aysha, who were injured in the accident have been admitted to a private hospital in Perinthalmanna.
