Nipah: One more death; toll rises to 17

Kozhikode: One more died due to Nipah infection, taking the toll to 17. Rashin, a 25 year-old resident of Neduvannur, is identified as the latest victim. He was undergoing treatment at the Kozhikode Medical College and Hospital.

On Wednesday, two people had died from the virus infection.

The nipah virus cause encephalitis — a dangerous swelling of the brain — and elevated fevers, cough, headache and shortness of breath are common symptoms.
