Kochi: A migrant worker has been arrested in connection with the murder of a girl in Perumbavoor by slitting her throat.
The deceased has been identified as Nimisha (21) a degree student at Vazhakulam MES College.
The girl's father was also injured while resisting the attack. The locals nabbed the migrant worker who has been residing near Nimisha's home and handed him over to the police.
The incident occured at Idathikkad in Vazhakulam. The migrant worker engaged in violence after reaching the girl's house. Her father was stabbed when he tried to prevent the attack.
On hearing the noise, a neighbour rushed to the rescue. However, he was also attacked.
Nimisha who was injured in the neck, succumbed to injuries before she reached the hopsital.
The girl's father is an autorickshaw driver. It is believed that the migrant worker knew the family earlier.
