Kerala gets Haj quota for 13,981 pilgims; 8,587 by lottery
text_fieldsThe Central Hajj Committee has selected 10,981 applicants from Kerala to perform Hajj this year.
The lottery conducted at the Hajj Committee Headquarters in Mumbai held the lots for varius states, and 8, 587 applicants from Kerala got their berth. In addition 1,270 applicants over thea age of 70, and 1,124 women applicants without mehram had already qualified directly without lottery.
Details of lottery are available in the website hajcommittee.gov.in, and also via the mobile no registered by the applicants with the Hajj Committee. State Hajj Committee office sources said that the details were also being made available via the Hajj Committee trainers.
The selected applicants have to pay the first instalment of Hajj fee amount to Rs 81,000 before 31 January.
Meanwhile, the Suprme Court is set to consider the petitions against this year's cancellation of automatic qualification accorded earlier to fifth time applicants. The petitions were filed by Kerala Hajj Committee and certain applicants. It is at a time when the High Court has posted the case for 30 January, that the Central Hajj Committee held the draw.
