Five CPI workers arrested over Youth League worker's murder

Police in Mannarkad have arrested five accused persons in the case of murder of Muslim Youth League worker, KV Safeer.

The five named Basheer (24), Mohammed Sharjil alias Richu (20), Mohammed Subhan (20), Rashid (24), Ajeesh alias Apputtan (24) were arrested on Monday from two locations by a police team led by Circle Inspector of Police Hidayathulla Mambra.

The murdered Safeer had suffered five stab injuries on his belly and sides and his neck had also some bruises.

Police informed that the first accused Basheer had made the stabbing, based on the statement by Safeer's friend Mansoor who was in the shop with the victim at the time. Mansoor himself had also got injured during the attack. Reports say that the killing ensued from an altercation between two gangs that was followed by a scuffle and then the murder.

Police also informed that the arrested were CPI workers and there used to be frequent issues between the two groups.
