Idukki water level crosses 2398 ft
text_fieldsIdukki: The water level in the Idukki reservoir touched 2, 398.66 feet on Thursday morning, the full reservoir level of the dam being 2, 403 feet.
The water level at 11 pm on Wednesday was 2397.50 feet, up from 2397.46 feet at 9 pm. The water level has been rising at a rate of 0.06 feet per hour.
Power Minister M M Mani had last week said the shutters of the Cheruthoni dam will be lifted for a trial run and there will be a limited release of water when the level hits 2, 398 feet.
However, the sources said that the KSEB has decided against conducting a trial run for now.
An 'orange alert' was sounded last week after the water levels touched 2, 395 feet. 'Red alert' will be issued when the water level is at 2, 399 feet.
Given the heavy rains, the water level is likely to rise further.
