Aluva: State Human Rights Commission has pointed to the impropriety over the procedures taken following the death of Sreejith, a youth of Varappuzha who died in the police custody recently. In a sitting held here, Acting Chairman P. Mohanadas called the transfer of Aluva rural SP AV George to Police Academy, improper.

"If a tainted faculty is placed in a training centre, it will create more problems, the commission said. AV George does not deserve the post. The police force is meant to provide service and protection to the people. So, those who head such institutions should be role models to the other officers," Mohanadas said.

The commission also severely criticized the government and said political interest should not influence the actions in such cases.

Role of the local politicians in the arrest of Sreejith should be probed, the commission said.
