Thrissur: In a major policy pronouncement in the build-up to the 2019 generral elections, Kerala Chief Minister and leading figure of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the party's main rivals are BJP and RSS.

While inaugurating the CPI-M district conference in Thrissur on Tuesday, Vijayan said that the Sangh Parivar was trying to destroy the plurality of India. The country is on the verge of an explosion, with the effects of debt trap and price rise faced by the working class including the farmers.

He said the BJP has failed to keep its promises made during elections. The Chief Minister used most of his one and a half hour long speech to berate the BJP. On the one hand, he said, there was the blow inflicted by demonetisation and implementation of GST and on the other, there was minority hunting and communal tensions which put together has landed the country in a dangerous situation.

Vijayan drew attention to his party's Coimbatore Congress position which was to offer relief to the people and put forward an alternative. He is scheduled to attend all the sessions of the district conference attended by 399 representatives.
