Theresa May’s India visit: Delegation contains a Malayalee
text_fieldsNew Delhi: British Prime Minister Theresa May has chosen a Malayalee journalist to accompany her in the first official visit to India.
Anasudhin Azeez, the editor of Asianlite, is the only Indian journalist in the delegation.
The British Prime Minister’s visit to India is significant as the country is looking for India as a crucial trade partner in the post-Brexit era. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by a high level business delegation.
Asianlite, published from Manchester in London, played a crucial role in formulating the 2015 Conservative party campaign strategy to win British-Asian votes, especially Indians. The visit of former Prime Minister David Cameron to the Asianlite newsroom during the election campaign in 2015 was a big news in the mainstream. The weekly newspaper grabbed the attention of the British community when it won the 2012 How-Do newspaper of the year award after defeating Rupert Murdoch’s The Times.
Azeez, who launched Asianlite in 2007, has worked with many media organisations in India and the Middle East including Free Press Journal, Indian Express, The Gulf Today, Khaleej Times and Yorkshire Post.
A native of Alwaye, he is a former student of Kerala Press Academy.
