Thiruvananthapuram: Ten people were killed and 32 others injured when a private bus hit a road divider and upturned early on Friday in Tamil Nadu.

Three of the dead and around 20 of the injured hail from Kerala.

The dead include five men, three women and two children.

The bus was on its way to Thiruvananthapuram from Karaikal via Kanyakumari when the accident occurred.

Briefing the media about the incident, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said in the state capital that he had instructed Thiruvananthapuram range IG Manoj Abraham to coordinate rescue operations.
Revenue officials who had gone to the mishap site had been asked to bring the injured Keralites back to the state for further treatment, if necessary, he added.
