Karayi Rajan resigns as Kannur panchayat chief

Kannur: CPI(M)’s Karayi Rajan on Saturday quit as the president of Kannur district panchayat.

He took the decision as the court earlier this week rejected his plea to relax the bail condition.

Meanwhile, Karayi Chandrasekharan said he would not step down as chairman of Thalassery municipality.

Both Karayi Rajan and Karayi Chandrasekharan were named as accused in the Fazal murder case. The court had granted bail to the Karayis on the condition that they shouldn't leave Ernakulam district.
