CPI-M observes hartal in five panchayats in Alappuzha

Alappuzha: The CPI-M is observing hartal in five panchayats in Alappuzha district Monday to protest attack on its party worker allegedly by BJP activists.

The hartal is in Vallikunnam, Chunakkara, Thamarakkulam, Nooranad, and Palamel panchayats.

In what came as a continuation of violent incidents between the parties reported from the district, a CPI-M worker was injured in an attacked allegedly by BJP activists at Charummood on Sunday.

The BJP has also called for hartal in Palamel and Nooranad panchayats.
