Kannur: The workers at the Aralam farm called off their indefinite strike with the government conceding to their demands including wage revision of workers on a par with that of workers in government agricultural farms.

The government has also agreed to regularise casual workers from the Adivasi community who have completed the mandatory 240 days.

The strike was called by a joint action committee representing three farm workers’ unions affiliated to the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), and All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC).

There were 219 permanent employees and 304 temporary labourers working in the Aralam Farming Corporation (Kerala) Limited, a public sector undertaking for tribals resettled in Kannur district.
