Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP has made significant gains in the election to the local bodies in Kerala.
The Saffron party won 31 seats in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, three seats in the Kochi Corporation, seven seats in the Kozhikode Corporation and six seats in the Thrissur Corporation.
The party has also opened its account in Thalassery, Kollam Malappuram and Manjeri municipalities.
In the civic polls held in 2010, BJP had only managed to get nine corporation wards.
