Panayikulam SIMI camping: NIA court finds five guilty

Kochi: The NIA court in Kochi on Wednesday found five persons guilty in a case related to the holding of a secret meeting of banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) at Panayikulam near Kochi nine years ago.

Justice K M Balachandran found P A Shaduli of Eerattupeta, Abdul Rasik, Ansar Nadvi of Aluva, Nizamudheen of Panayikkulam and Ambazhathingal Veetil Shammi of Eerattupeta guilty of conducting the meeting on 15 August, 2006.

The quantum of punishment to the guilty would be announced on Thursday.

The court acquitted other 11 alleged accused for want of evidence.
