Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Judicial First Class Magistrate Court Wednesday sent Maoist leader Roopesh, his wife Shyna and three others to police custody for ten days for further interrogation.

The court order was following a plea filed by the Kerala police and Q Branch of Tamil Nadu police requesting their custody to facilitate the investigation.

In another development, two teenage daughters of the jailed Maoist couple, Roopesh and Shyna, met their parents at the central prison today.

Police said Aami (18) and Thaju Savera (14) came to the jail with their paternal uncle and submitted a requisition to visit their parents.

Permission was granted, but their requests to allow them carry a camera and mobile phones inside to photograph their parents were denied, police said.

Roopesh and his wife were among five Maoists arrested on May 4 at Karumathampatti in Coimbatore.
