Kochi: Kerala High Court Monday has ordered that the media persons should not be barred from covering the court proceedings.

Justice K.T Shankaran, while delivering the verdict, has said the restriction on the media should be imposed only if it is a secret trial.

Earlier in the day, the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court had barred the media from covering the procedures of the trial of the Kalamassery land-grab case in which former Kerala Land Revenue Commissioner T.O. Sooraj was allegedly involved.

The court was hearing the bail plea filed by the revenue officials who were arrested in connection with the case.
