Saritha Nair, Biju Radhakrishnan get three years in jail

Pathanamthitta: A court here on Thursday sentenced Saritha Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan to three years of rigorous imprisonment in a solar scam case.
The Pathanamthitta First Class Judicial Magistrate Court, delivering the first judgement in the case on Thursday, said that the charges against Saritha and Biju have been proven and awarded them three-year jail term and a fine of RS 45 lakh and Rs 75 lakh respectively.
They were charged with forgery, cheating, conspiracy, and impersonation. The court said that the prosecution successfully proved all the charges except the conspiracy angle in the case.
The case was filed by Aranmula native Baburaj, who accused Saritha and Biju of duping him of Rs 1.19 crore in the name of a dubious solar project. The case was filed at Aranmula police station in 2013.
