Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Friday said state Finance Minister K.M Mani should be removed from the chairman post of the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers on Goods and Services Tax (GST).

“K.M Mani should be removed from the chairman post of the GST panel as he is an accused in the bar bribery case,” Kodiyeri told reporters at a press conference.

Kodiyeri also demanded that a probe be ordered into the asset details of both K.M Mani and his son Jose K Mani.

“P C George’s letter against Mani should be taken as evidence in the bar bribery case. George should be made a witness in the case,” the CPI(M) leader said.

He also said P.P Thankachan’s allegation that the LDF Opposition had tried to destabilise the UDF government was baseless.
