New Delhi: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on Saturday said a total of 291 Keralites, who were stranded in the flood-affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir, have so far been rescued and brought to New Delhi.

“A total of 291 Keralites have so far been rescued and brought to Kerala House in New Delhi. Steps are progressing to bring back others safely,” Chennithala told reporters here.

At Kerala House in Delhi, all facilities have been made to accommodate those coming from Kashmir.

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has been in New Delhi since Tuesday coordinating evacuation procedures with the Jammu and Kashmir government.

Kerala had sanctioned Rs two crore for the Jammu-Kashmir government as assistance to take up relief work.
