Sudheeran’s approach not in favour of Congress, says K Muraleedharan

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress leader K Muraleedharan on Sunday came out against the stand of KPCC president V M Sudheeran over the liquor policy of the UDF government.

“The stand of the KPCC president over the liquor policy is not good for the Congress. That will affect the smooth functioning of the government,” Muraleedharan told reporters here.

“The leaders should be careful while commenting on the government policies as that should not affect the continuation of governance,” the Congress leader added.

Referring to the now diluted liquor policy in the state that initially aimed to implement total prohibition in a phased manner, Sudheeran had said that external forces were setting the government agenda ‘at times’.

"The biggest flaw in democracy is when 'external forces' set the agenda for governance. I am just airing the feelings of the people," Sudheeran told reporters in Thrissur.

Ever since Sudheeran took over as president, there has been a realignment of factions within the party in Kerala with a huge majority in the party rallying behind Chandy and very few left with Sudheeran.

The matter is expected to clear up Monday when the parliamentary party of the Congress meets.
