Subhash Chandran bags Kendra Sahithya Academy award

New Delhi: Celebrated Malayalam novelist Subhash Chandran was on Friday selected for this year’s Kendra Sahitya Academy Awards for his novel ‘Manushyanu Oru Aamukham’.
The prestigious award carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a plaque.
‘Manushyanu Oru Aamukham’ is the debut novel of Subhash Chandran. The novel is set in Thachanakkara, a fictitious village in central Kerala and has the central character named Jithendran.
It was originally serialised in Mathrubhumi Weekly in 2009 and was published as a book by DC Books in 2010.
The novel has won numerous awards including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award (2011), Odakkuzhal Award (2011), FOKANA Award (2012), Bhasha Institute's Basheer Puraskaaram (2012) and Kovilan Puraskaaram (2012).
Subhash Chandran, born in 1972 at Kadungalloor in Thrissur district, is one of the most read young writers in contemporary Malayalam literature.
