HC extends status quo of 250 odd bars till Jan 20

Kochi: The High Court Wednesday extended the status quo with respect to functioning of 250 odd bar hotels in the state till January 20.

The direction in this regard was issued by a division bench comprising Justices K T Sankaran and P D Rajan when appeals by the state government and bar owners came up before it.

Advocate General K P Dandapani informed the court that the government would constitute a committee to study the impact of the new liquor policy.

Tourism and Labour departments have been asked to submit a report within four weeks.
