Karnataka govt seeks cancellation of bail to Ma’dani
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Karnataka government has moved the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of interim bail granted to PDP leader Abdul Nasser Ma’dani, an accused in the Bangalore blast case.
In an affidavit filed on Thursday, the Home department of Karnataka government said the extension of his bail period would allow him to influence the witnesses.
On August 11, the apex court had extended by two weeks, the period of bail granted to PDP chairman Abdul Nasser Ma’dani on medical grounds.
The PDP leader was released from the Bangalore Central Prison July 14.
The apex court, while giving him bail, had noted that he was an under-trial prisoner and had already been behind the bars for the last four years and was suffering from various ailments, including diabetes.
The court had said that Ma'dani would not leave Bangalore and the government was at liberty to take all steps, including putting him under surveillance, to ensure he did not get in touch with witnesses in the case.
