Uttarakhand authorities 'ban' five drugs of Ramdev's Patanjali

New Delhi: After Uttarakhand government banned his company's five drugs, yoga guru Baba Ramdev's pharmaceutical company Divvy Pharmacy of Patanjali group on Thursday accused an " anti-Ayurveda drug mafia' of conspiracy.

Reports in media yesterday said the Ayurveda and Unani Licensing Authority in Dehradun, Uttarakhand had banned Patanjali Ayurveda from manufacturing five drugs for blood pressure, diabetes, goitre, glaucoma and high cholesterol over misleading advertisements.

Following the reports Patanjali stated that it had not received the copy of the order "conspiratorially written and circulated in the media"; however, the company quickly called out "the involvement of anti-Ayurveda drug mafia".

The company further stated that "All the products and medicines made by Patanjali are made follow prescribed standards, fulfilling all statutory processes and international standards with the highest research and quality in the Ayurveda tradition, with the help of more than 500 scientists"

As well as asking the government department to "rectify its mistake", it sought to punish the person involved in the conspiracy along with a compensation for the loss incurred to the company.

The Hindu reported that the order to ban the Pantanji's drugs were issued by Dr GCS. Jangpangi, license officer, Uttarakhand Ayurvedic and Unani Services citing misleading advertisements.

The action against its five drugs were initiated over complaint filed by a Kerala-based ophthalmologist KV Babu in July earlier this year , who also filed another complaint to the State Licensing Authority( SLA) on October 11, according to a report by the Hindustan Times.
