Lucknow: A private school teacher in Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi district has been accused of brutally assaulting a Class 3 student, behaving inappropriately towards her and pulling out her hair, triggering outrage and renewed concerns over children's safety in schools, according to reports.

The student, identified as Anokhi, has accused the teacher, Manoj, of beating her and pulling out her hair. A video circulating on social media shows the girl describing the alleged abuse and displaying parts of her scalp from which she claims her hair was pulled out.

The student has also alleged that the teacher frequently mistreats and beats other children. The reasons behind the alleged assault remain unclear.

The school's management has also come under scrutiny over allegations that it failed to take appropriate action after the incident was reported and attempted to settle the matter instead. The allegations have prompted demands from the girl's family and local residents for strict action against the teacher.

Police have indicated that action would be taken in accordance with the law upon receiving a formal complaint. There is no confirmed information establishing that an FIR has been registered or that the accused has been arrested.

The incident comes amid another controversy involving a government schoolteacher in Uttar Pradesh. A video from Etawah district recently showed teacher Dinesh Kumar Mathur repeatedly tapping a student's head with his hands while laughing.

The footage prompted the education department to suspend Mathur, a teacher at Birauli Primary School in the Saifai block. Reports differ on whether he was serving as an assistant teacher or acting headmaster.

The two incidents have renewed questions over disciplinary practices in schools and accountability when teachers are accused of mistreating students.
