Bhopal: Belittling all the claims of the governments on upliftment of dalits, incidents of cruelty against the community members for trivial reasons are constantly coming to light. In yet another instance of brutal casteism, upper-caste men thrashed a 25 year old dalit youth to death for he touched food at a feast.

Devraj Anuragi of Kishanpur village of Chhatarpur district, about 450 km from Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal, was murdered citing he served food for himself at a feast.

According to the police, the accused Bhura Soni and Santhosh Pal, who are now absconding, had called Devraj for cleaning works of a feast.

After the party, Devraj was serving meal for himself. Enraged on seeing this, Soni and Pal insulted the victim and thrashed with sticks until the victim fainted. Later Devraj was taken to his house from where he was shifted to hospital, but was declared brought dead.

The accused are charged with murder under SC-ST POA Act. The police said that the accused will be nabbed soon.
