Patna: A ruckus broke out Wednesday in the Bihar Assembly as opposition members, including one who was expelled by marshals, raised issues ranging from floods to communalism.

Members demanded to be able to discuss their adjournment motions immediately upon assembly starting at 11 AM.

Adjournment motions were moved seeking, among other things, a CBI inquiry into the killing of a worker of the chief minister's party in Danapur on the outskirts of Patna and judicial probe into the mysterious death of a descendant of Revolt of 1857 hero Veer Kunwar Singh in Bhojpur district which family members have blamed on "beating" by security personnel manning the legendary ruler's historical fort.

After Question Hour, Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha read out and rejected the adjournment motions, the House was in disarray.

In his remarks, the Speaker requested that members return to their seats and place their submissions in briefs if they entered the well.

Several Members of Parliament brought the attention of the House to the murder cases mentioned above, which, they said, testified to a lack of law and order in the state "where even the chief minister is not safe."

Additionally, the members expressed concern over "hate speech" made by Union Minister Giriraj Singh who has repeatedly complained about "persecution of Hindus" in his Lok Sabha constituency Begusarai. Singh also accused the local administration of participating in "appeasement politics.".

Akhtarul Iman, an AIMIM MLA, was admonished by the Speaker for going down the well repeatedly and marshals were called and took him away.

Lalit Yadav, chief whip of the RJD, expressed regret on behalf of Asaduddin Owaisi's party to the Speaker. He revoked his order suspending Iman for the day afterward.

During the post-lunch session, the Speaker welcomed Mr. Iman to the House.

Meanwhile, along with other party MLAs, Mr Iman, the head of AIMIM's Bihar unit, sat on a dharna outside in protest.

"I had moved adjournment motion on the issues which particularly affect my flood-prone Seemanchal region. I wanted my voice to be heard since the session is coming to a close. I am aghast that I was meted out such a treatment though it is not unusual for members to enter the well", Mr Iman said PTI.
