Chennai: Chennai Police on Thursday detained at least 44 members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) near Porur

The arrests were made after the group organised a Guru Puja and special Shakha training session at the Ayyappanthangal Government Higher Secondary School without obtaining prior permission.

The school’s headmaster filed a complaint after RSS cadres allegedly entered the premises without authorization.

Chennai Police reportedly said that 39 RSS members were detained for conducting ‘a Guru Puja and special Shakha training session at the Ayyappanthangal Government Higher Secondary School without prior permission’.

A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita charging them with unlawful assembly and criminal trespass on government property.

It is reported that 44 members were formally arrested and an FIR was filed before granting them station bail.
