Three held for knifepoint robbery of cab driver near Hyderabad airport

Hyderabad: Three people, including two juveniles, have been arrested over the knifepoint robbery of a cab driver near Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), with police recovering the stolen phones, cash, vehicle and the weapon used in the crime.
The accused, identified as Faizullah of Jalpally and two minors, were picked up from the Outer Ring Road (ORR) service road in Shamshabad on Thursday night and remanded to judicial custody on Friday, September 4, RGIA police said.
The incident unfolded around 2.30am on Wednesday when driver Sabhavath Rajender Kumar, 32, of Airport Colony, accepted a booking from Shamshabad to Aramgarh and collected two passengers near Rajiv Gruhakalpa on the ORR service road, according to The Times of India. On the NH-44 service road, the passengers yanked the handbrake to halt the car, one held a knife to Kumar’s throat and a third accomplice, who had followed on a motorcycle, pulled him out before the gang fled with two mobile phones, Rs 180 in cash and the cab.
RGI Airport police registered the case under Section 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for robbery and traced the suspects within two days. “We arrested three accused, including Faizullah of Jalpally and two juveniles, from the ORR service road in Shamshabad on Thursday night. The entire stolen property was recovered along with the knife used in the offence. The accused were remanded to judicial custody on Friday,” RGIA detective inspector G Pavan Kumar told the paper.
