Kochi/Bengaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing Confident Group Chairman C.J. Roy's January 31 suicide at his Bengaluru office has found no evidence of harassment or pressure from Income Tax officials, as alleged.

Preliminary findings, shared as the probe nears completion, attribute the death to intense business stress rather than tax department actions. SIT sources confirmed Roy faced no questioning by tax officials that day and no proof exists of intimidation or coercion.

Investigators noted Roy grappled with other unresolved matters and had sought mental health treatment recently. To assess his mindset, the team recorded statements from three Kochi-based personal friends he called extensively before his death, plus two YouTubers who promoted his group and earlier business associates.

Police are now delving into his finances, appointing private auditors to scrutinize company audits, fund flows, regulatory issues, and investor pressures. Roy, famed for his lavish lifestyle including Dubai luxury cars, had endured recent transaction probes.

The company recently affirmed ongoing site work and fulfillment of flat-buyer commitments.
