Several political leaders attend IUML's Iftar party

New Delhi: Leaders from several political parties attended an Iftar meeting hosted by the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) in the nation's capital on Thursday. Members of the Iftaar party included Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
Speaking to ANI at the event, Tharoor reiterated the IUML's status as a crucial Congress ally. He stated that the Indian Union Muslim League was an ally and that they have a large presence in Parliament, both in the Upper and Lower Houses, adding that their main leaders hail from Kerala and the national IUML establishment.
Tharoor said that they were thrilled to participate in this occasion, and wished the IUML all the best during Ramzan. May everyone have a blessed Ramzan, he added.
Other important figures, such as Samajwadi Party chairman Akhilesh Yadav and SP MP Jaya Bachchan, attended the ceremony.
PT Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association, extended her gratitude for the invitation saying that she was glad to be invited and able to celebrate with them.
Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy conveyed her best wishes for a peaceful Ramzan and added that every festival should be enjoyed
Congress leader Shama Mohamed highlighting the significance of the gathering said that Ramzan is a holy month and that the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) had organised a fantastic Iftar where people from across the parties had come. She said that Iftar is about peace, and love, as reported by ANI.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh conveyed his greetings at the Iftar party organized by IUML and extended his wishes for Ramzan Mubarak to the members of the party and everyone present.
He also urged all attendees to pray for peace, tranquillity, and prosperity in the country. In a related event, former Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar was seen at the Pakistan High Commission, where he had arrived to participate in the Iftar gathering.
Ramzan, considered the sacred month in the Islamic calendar, falls in the ninth month of the Hijri (Islamic lunar) calendar. During this period, Muslims engage in fasting from dawn to sunset, known as Roza, which is one of the five pillars of Islam. This practice emphasizes values such as devotion, self-discipline, and spiritual reflection.
