Rajasthan Police arrests 2 Muslim muftis over hate speech
text_fieldsKota: Rajasthan police arrested two Muslim leaders on Friday for alleged provocative speeches they delivered a month ago, PTI reported citing a Bundi Police official.
The arrested, namely Nadeem Akthar and Mohammed Alam Rajjaque Gori, have been booked under Sections 153 (A), 153 (B) and 295 (A) of the IPC.
Both, who are muftis, were produced before the chief judicial magistrate court, which sent them to 14 days of judicial custody.
When the arrestees' counsel applied for bail, the court reserved a verdict on it till Saturday.
Additional Superintendent of Police Kishorilal told the media that the two were arrested for alleged delivering provocative speeches on June 3, outside the Bundi collector's office. There was a protest going on over suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma's insulting remarks on Prophet Mohammed. A video regarding their speech had come on social media.
