Radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh’s 10 aides sent to jail
text_fieldsChandigarh: A court in Punjab sent to judicial custody 10 associates of fugitive Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh till April 6 for clashing with cops in February to free a member of their group.
The Ajnala court also remanded to police custody another accused Sukhpreet Sing for four days, police reportedly said.
Members of Amritpal Singh’s radical group ‘Waris Punjab De’ were accused of ‘breaching the Ajnala police station’ carrying swords and high-calibre firearms and threatened the police demanding release of Lovepreet Toofan, who was arrested for allegedly assaulting and kidnapping a man.
Following their storming of the police station in February, police registered an FIR against the member of the radical group.
Meanwhile, police from Delhi and Punjab have launched a search on the chance of Amritpal Singh having sneaked into the capital region.
