New Delhi: A racket alleged to have been involved in cheating people by offering Rajya Sabha seat, governorship and other ministerial top posts has been busted by the CBI, the NDTV reported.

Four members of the racket are reported to have been caught red-handed while they were taking money from a person. The CBI said that the accused offered governorship for up to ₹ 100 crore.

The CBI said that the racket indulged in offering top ministerial posts, governorship and Rajya Sabha seats for Rs 100 crore, convincing their clients that they could exert influence in the government for their desired posts.

The four who have been arrested by the CBI are believed to be the natives of Maharashtra's Karmalakar Premkumar Bandgar, Karnataka resident Ravindra Vithal Naik, and Delhi residents Mahendra Pal Arora and Abhishek Boora, according to the NDTV.

The Central Bureau of Investigation, or CBI, had been listening to calls via a phone intercept for the last few weeks as they zeroed in on the accused, people with direct knowledge of the matter said, asking not to be identified.

The CBI made the arrests after days of watching, and intercepting calls through the phone before zeroing in on the accused.

The people in custody are also accused of threatening police officials and other bureaucrats, posing themselves as senior CBI officials and ones who have well connection with senior bureaucrats and political functionaries.
