Bengaluru: Alertness of a driver saved several lives when a bus went up in flames in Bengaluru today, NDTV reported.

The fire got ignited as the driver started the bus on a busy road in the city.

Wasting no time, the driver quickly evacuated passengers ensuring one is hurt, the report said citing sources in the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).

There were 30 passengers in the bus at the time of the fire and after evacuating them, the driver informed the firefighters, the sources said.

It is reported that the engine caught fire when the driver turned on the ignition on MG road here.

The fire was suspected to be broken out as the engine was overheated.
