Popular soft drinks company commits 'sharbat jihad': Baba Ramdev
text_fieldsControversial Yoga guru and co-founder of controversial company Patanjali Ayurved, Baba Ramdev, invented a new term, ‘sharbat jihad’. He claimed that a soft drinks-making company is doing ‘sharbat jihad’ by using its earnings to build masjids and madrasas. The controversial guru, whose company is facing numerous court cases and whose products are being under scrutiny over quality issues, made the claim in a video, which went viral online, in which he promoted Patanjali’s soft drinks products.
Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurved is also facing legal challenges for its advertising practices.
Patanjali himself shared the video on X where he could be heard saying, Protect your family and innocent children from the poison of toilet cleaners being sold in the name of soft drinks and "sharbat Jihad". Bring home only Patanjali Sharbat and Juices. Find the nearest store by searching "Patanjali Store / Chikitsalya Near Me" on Google or clicking the link below.
Likening popular soft drinks to toilet cleaners, Ramdev asked views to make a “conscious choice” opting for Patanjali’s substitute.
Claiming that Patanjali soft drinks have health benefits, he also claimed that his company’s products are more ethical and healthier alternatives to popular soft drinks and beverages.
The controversial guru’s invention of “sharbat jihad” has been widely seen as a business tactic to cash in communal divides to make huge gains in his business. A user wrote on X that Ramdev is using islamophobia as a “legit marketing strategy to build a business empire”.
