New Delhi: Prime Minster Modi joined the few international voices condemning the unruly situation at the US Capital on Wednesday.

He expressed " shock" on Thursday hours after the storming of the Capitol by Trump supporters, which left one woman shot dead.

PM Modi termed the riot "unlawful" before went on to register that he was " distressed" at the news, and hoped for a peaceful transition of power in the US.

PM Modi wrote on Twitter , "Distressed to see news about rioting and violence in Washington DC. Orderly and peaceful transfer of power must continue."

The PM further added: "The democratic process cannot be allowed to be subverted through unlawful protests."

As the world is watching the chaos at the US Capitol jaws dropped to the floor, more voices of distress emerge from across the world

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Canadian were deeply disturbed by what he said " attack on democracy".

BBC reported that Argentina's President Alberto Fernandez threw his weight behind Joe Biden while condemning the violence.

Further on this, President Sebastian Pinera didn't mince his words in condemning the rioting.

US Capital on Wednesday descended into churlish chaos after Trump supporters barged in, forcing evacuation of Senate and whisking away of Vice president to Safety.
