Please, tell him that we want to see him: Putin’s message to Modi
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin wished ‘our friends every success’ in the Lok Sabha polls and invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Russia.
The Russian leader also said that "traditional conventional friendly ties" with New Delhi will continue irrespective of ‘what the alignment of political forces’ is.
Putin made the remarks during a meeting with External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, according to NDTV.
S Jaishankar said that Russian leader had discussed with PM Modi on the situation in Ukraine with Putin saying that PM Modi was willing to do his utmost to resolve the issue through peaceful means.
‘Many times, I advised him of how things have been going there and I know that he (PM Modi) is willing to do his utmost so that the issue is resolved by peaceful means,’ Putin was quoted as saying.
Despite the turmoil happening internationally, Putin said, ‘the relationship with our true friend in Asia, India has been progressing incrementally.’
Putin reportedly invited PM Modi to pay a visit to Russia, to discuss ‘all the relevant, current issues and talk to the prospects of the Russian and Indian relationship’.
‘Definitely, we will be glad to see our dear friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, paying a visit to Russia, we will be able to discuss all the relevant, current issues and talk to the prospects of the Russian and Indian relationship,’ Putin reportedly said.
Right from the beginning of Ukraine conflict, India resisted the West’s pressure to join their camp against Moscow.
India has pushed for solving the issue through dialogue and continues strong ties with Russia.
During meeting in Samarkand in 2021, P Modi famously told the Russian leader that this is ‘not an era of war’.
