New Delhi: The passenger who assaulted a pilot aboard the IndiGo flight has been arrested, NDTV reported on Tuesday.

Sahil Kataria, who lost cool after the flight had been delayed for hours, was seen in a footage hitting Anup Kumar, the flight's co-captain.

The incident took place on the IndiGo flight (6E-2175) from Delhi to Goa which was delayed due to fog several hours on Sunday.

The aircraft's pilot was attacked while he was making an announcement over delays.

Sahil Kataria who was arrested and later released on bail, ran up from the last row and hit the pilot.

Anup Kumar, the flight's co-captain, had taken over from the previous crew as per Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) following flight delay.

As with FDTL, the flight attendants have to take adequate rest periods to reduce ‘fatigue-related safety concerns’, according to the report.

The unruly passenger was whisked away before being handed over to the authorities.

Responding to the incident one user said on X: ‘What does the pilot or cabin crew have to do with the delay? They were just doing their job. Arrest this man, and put him on the no-fly list. Publish his picture so people are aware of his bad temper in public.’

Another user said the man should be booked for assault alongside putting him on No Fly List.

The incident was reported following flight disruptions at the Delhi Airport.

The flight tracker website flightradar24 reported that as many as 110 flights experienced delays and 79 flights were cancelled.

Flight delays in some cases exceeding seven or eight hours occurred primarily due to poor weather from dense fog in North India.
