Parliament's Budget Session to commence Jan 31; end April 6

New Delhi: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi informed that the Budget Session of the Parliament would start on January 31 and end on April 6. The sittings of the sessions will span 66 days with the usual recess in between, NDTV reported, citing the minister.
The session will begin with President Droupadi Murmu's address at the joint sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in the Central Hall of Parliament. The address will be the first by Murmu to the two Houses since she took the office of the President in August 2021.
Joshi tweeted, "Amid Amrit Kaal looking forward to discussions on Motion of Thanks on the President's Address, Union Budget and other items."
The recess in between will be from February 14 to March 12. This is to allow the department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees to study the demands for grants and make reports to respective ministries and departments.
In the first part of the session, both houses will conduct a detailed discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address, and a discussion on the Union budget will follow it.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will respond to the debate of the Motion of Thanks to the President's address, and Finance Minister will reply to the debate on the union budget.
The second part of the session will focus on the discussion on demands for grants for various ministries and also the government's legislative agenda. The Union Budget, a money bill, will be passed during the second part of the session, NDTV reported.
