New Delhi: The five-day Parliament session will begin on Monday with the Prime Minister Modi opening a discussion on 75 years of parliament.

The Opposition are on tenterhooks speculating whether the government will bring in some surprising bill during the setting.

Their curiosity stems from the fact that only days ago during the G20 Summit possible replacing of the name India with Bharat cropped up.

Both houses, according to The Hindustan Times, will hold a discussion on the Parliament’s journey of 75 years beginning with the constituent assembly.

Members will join the discussion covering achievements, experiences, memories and learnings over the 75 years of the house.

The government reportedly supplied a list of legislative business likely to take place in the house during the five days.

The list includes a bill that seeks to exclude the Chief Justice of India (CJI) from the panel to appoint the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Election Commissioners (ECs).

The bill will also make the CEC and two ECs on par with the cabinet secretary and not a Supreme Court judge, unlike it is now.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said eight bills will be put to consideration and passage during the session.

They include the Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2023, The Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, 2023, and The Post Office Bill, 2023, among others.

The session, according to NDTV, will be shifted to new building after Tuesday’s function with a puja as it is happening on Ganesh Chaturthi.
