Parallel donation collection at Madhya Pradesh temple under investigation
text_fieldsBhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has launched a high-level investigation into alleged financial irregularities involving donations at the Maa Baglamukhi Temple in Nalkheda, Agar Malwa district. The probe follows complaints that an unauthorised private group was collecting cash and valuables from devotees while operating independently of the temple's official management.
Tourism Minister Dharmendra Lodhi said the government would take strict action against anyone found guilty. He stated that some individuals with no role in the temple's authorised administration had allegedly issued donation receipts in the temple's name and collected funds illegally. Lodhi added that temples managed by the state are audited every three months and that any misuse of donations would be dealt with firmly.
According to an order issued by Agar Malwa Collector Preeti Yadav on July 7, complaints alleged that a non-government committee had been functioning within the temple premises, accepting cash as well as gold and silver offerings. The group is also accused of using private bank accounts to handle donations, raising concerns over possible financial misconduct.
To examine the allegations, the district administration has formed a three-member inquiry committee headed by District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer B.S. Solanki. The other members are District Treasury Officer Manish Solanki and Nalkheda Chief Municipal Officer Mini Agrawal.
The committee has been asked to determine whether an unauthorised parallel donation system existed, verify donation receipts, inspect bank accounts and financial records, and examine the possible involvement of government officials, temple staff or other individuals. It has also been directed to inspect the temple premises, collect evidence, record statements from those concerned and submit its findings and recommendations to the Collector within seven days.
