Muslims seeing themselves Sanatani welcome to Kumbh: Adityanth
text_fieldsMahakumbh Nagar: Muslims who believe in India’s Sanatan tradition are welcome to participate in the 2025 Prayagraj Mahakumbh, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath said on Thursday. The CM’s statement comes while controversy is already brewing as saints of Akhara Parishad demand a complete ban on Muslims in the Kumbh area, The Free Press Journal (TFJP) reported.
“Any Muslim who acknowledges the Sanatan tradition and feels their identity is associated with Indian culture is welcome here,” Adityanath TFPJ quoted.
However, the CM also issued a warning that arrangements have also been made to deal with those coming with a “wrong mindset”, he said.

Yogi said that Muslims who feel that their ancestors adopted Islam under pressure but still see themselves as Sanatani, who connect their gotra with Indian sages, are free to attend the Mela.
“Muslims who feel their ancestors adopted Islam under pressure but still see themselves as Sanatani, who connect their gotra with Indian sages, are free to come and take a dip at the Sangam in the traditional way. Such people are an integral part of our culture and heritage,” he said.
Further, the controversial far-right CM warned the Waqf board that any attempts to claim land linked to Maha Kumbh would be met with “denting painting”. He called the Waqf a “board of land mafias” rather than an institution.
He also said that no disputed structure should be called a mosque and claimed that tenets of Islam are against constructing mosques in disputed sites.
