Man complains about potholes when rickshaw topples due to the same
text_fieldsUttar Pradesh: A man was talking on camera about the dangers of potholes when an e-rickshaw toppled over after hitting a water-filled hole.
Pravir Kumar, a resident of Ballia, was explaining the possible accidents caused by potholes on the road. He was standing on the sidewalk of a road when behind him an electric rickshaw fell on its side after hitting a pothole. People rushed to help the passengers. A woman appeared to be injured in the accident.
Kumar said the road in the area remains damaged and ignored despite several attempts seeking the government's intervention. It has been at least four years since the potholes got repaired. He added that accidents involving auto rickshaws occur at least 20 times a day.
According to data released by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways last month, road accidents caused by potholes ended up in the death of 5,626 people between 2018-2020.
After the video was shared on Twitter, users pointed out the irony of the situation. A user wrote that the journalist could not have asked for better proof for his story. Others tagged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and asked him to intervene. Some users also slammed the state government and criticised the UP model of development.
